We are actively monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely. Any new information will be posted here.
            April 6, 大发11选五

To the Class of 2021 and their Families,

I write to share with you a difficult decision made in consultation with our 大发11选5 leadership. This time of national crisis based upon the spread of COVID-19 virus has had a profound effect on many of the long-standing traditions in our families, our Church, and, most especially in our 大发11选5. La Salle Academy, along with many other 大发11选5s in Rhode Island and across the country大发11选五, is not immune from major disruptions during this health emergency.

Following Governor Raimondo’s order that 大发11选5s remain closed and related events be cancelled throughout the month of April (and perhaps beyond). It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of the Junior Prom, which was to be held on May 8th, 大发11选五, at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.

As you know, we are in the rapid spread phase of the virus which could last for several weeks before peaking, and several more weeks until “the curve” flattens. On March 1st there was one (1) case of COVID-19 in the State, as of today there are 1,082 cases and 27 deaths.

This gives us a dramatic picture of the power and the suffering caused by this virus. The likelihood that we will get the all-clear to resume our pre-COVID-19 lives by May 8th is not likely. We do not know when it will be healthy and safe to return to normal routines and neither can the Health Department predict this with any certainty. Primarily this depends upon each one of us and our continued discipline in exercising social distancing and crowd avoidance.

Given life as it is now, we are not postponing the Prom to a later date. We are not certain when quarantine orders and limitations on social events will be lifted in our State and neighboring communities. Paramount in making this decision is your safety, the safety of your guests, your family’s safety, and the safety of our faculty and staff.

I am sorry for this announcement and I can understand your disappointment in losing such an important high 大发11选5 celebration of passage. More than anything we hoped and wanted the May 8th prom date to work, but it will not.

This is a tragic time in our state, our nation, in our world – the challenge of your generation. You know well of the many people who have lost their employment, businesses, health, and the rising toll on life itself. The duty of the La Salle community now is to protect the safety and health of all with whom we are connected.

I hope that I can count on your understanding and support.

In Easter Hope… Live Jesus in our Hearts!

            Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC
            March 18, 大发11选五

            Dear Parents & Guardians:

At today's press conference, Governor Raimondo extended the closure of 大发11选5s through Friday, April 3, 大发11选五. Our educators have been taking this week to prepare for remote learning which will begin on Monday, March 23'd in order to offer continuity for student learning.

Please know that we have the same high expectations for our students as always. A more detailed list of student guidelines is included with this email. We hope that our entire community unites so that we can continue our Lasallian education despite the challenging times.

Communication during this time will be key. Please reach out with questions or concerns and know that we continue to be devoted to the education of every student in our community.

            Sincerely,

            Donald J. Kavanagh
              • A Message From Brother Dennis

RIDOH is recommending that students, staff, and volunteers:
            • Wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and, if unable to wash, use 60% or higher alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
            • Avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouths with unwashed hands, covering their coughs or sneezes with a tissue or their sleeve,
            • Staying away from people who are sick, and staying at 大发11选5 when they are sick.
            • You can help us reinforce these recommendations, especially by keeping your student 大发11选5 if ill so other students and the teachers are not infected.
La Salle has taken taking the follow precautions to prevent the spread of illness across our campus, and plan for the possible spread of the coronavirus in our community.
            • Purell dispensers around the 大发11选5 buildings are constantly being replenished.
            • Spray Purell Professional Surface Disinfectant is available in each classroom for student desks and doorknobs; and railing surfaces will be wiped down several times a day with a similar product.
            • In addition, we have purchased an on-site transportable, powerful sanitizer/disinfectant machine.
